Godber comedy takes to Rugby stage on Six Nations opening weekend

A PACK of female rugby players will scrum down to take centre stage at Rugby Theatre as the Six Nations kicks off this weekend.

On Saturday (February 4), John Godber’s comedy Muddy Cows starts a seven-show run in the birthplace of the game.

The show tells the story of Scarfield Ladies, who are fighting to keep their team together against the odds.

First-time director Kevin Bright said: “It’s been a challenging but really rewarding experience directing this wonderfully entertaining show with a fabulously talented all-female cast.

“It’s typical John Godber really. A brilliant script, full of wit and social comment, and based around a group of beautifully drawn characters who all have a story or two to tell. Whether you’re a fan of rugby or not, I’m pretty sure you’ll find it a great night out.”

Muddy Cows features Katie-Anne Campbell, Cheryl Ryan, Sarah Tolchard, Laura Hopwood, Jade Rayfield and Victoria Stakelum as the tough tackling Scarfield Ladies.

Muddy Cows opens on Saturday (February 4) for a seven show run. Visit www.rugbytheatre.co.uk or call 01788 541234 to book tickets.
