Prodigies to showcase talents at Rugby School's annual Concerto

MUSICAL prodigies from Rugby School will perform alongside a full professional orchestra in the School’s annual Concerto Concert, raising funds for Myton Hospice.

The musical highlight of the School’s calendar, the concert will showcase its best soloists – this year including the tuba, cello, piano and voice – performing movements from works by Gregson, Cimarosa, Bizet, Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich.

The young musicians will be accompanied by Bliss Sinfonia, Rugby School’s orchestra-in-residence, featuring many of the professionals who teach the students.

Director of music Richard Tanner said the quality of the Concerto Concert is always outstanding and that students appreciate the opportunity to perform to a wider audience.

He said: “We have some truly talented musicians here at Rugby School who seem to get more accomplished every year.

“Classical music fans from across the region are welcome to come and join us for this special evening while raising money for a good cause at the same time.”

The concert will be held at the Temple Speech Room on Friday March 28, with proceeds donated to Myton Hospice.
