Radio 2 in the Park to make a fresh return in Leicester this September

Rugby Editorial 1st Sep, 2023   0

The beloved Radio 2 Live Music Festival will be making a grand return in September (16th – 17th to be precise) at Victoria Park, Leicester.

The event didn’t take place in 2022, but features famous faces like Kylie Minogue, Busted, and Texas, to name a few.

Radio 2 in the Park has always taken place at Hyde Park in London, so to have it in a new location for the first time ever offers a great change of scenery. It’s also quite an achievement for Leicester and the surrounding area!

Despite the change in location, the value of the festival remains the same: to provide the best music throughout the decades in a shared outdoor space where music lovers and fans of Radio 2 can all come together. Isn’t that just lovely?

Radio 2 in the Park has truly put on a show over the past twelve years. And although this year is shaping up to be another to remember, a lot has changed in the radio scene during this time. The ever-evolving online space is redefining how we experience things – radio being one of them.

Online Radio

Traditional radio is no longer the only option, as we see online radio is taking the industry by storm. There’s a lot more accessibility; whether you’re lying in bed, doing your evening run, or even working out at the gym, you can tune in wherever you are. You’re also not restricted by your geographic location either. For the locals of Rugby, they can tune into online radio stations in Glasgow if they so wish. The power of modern technology! But radio isn’t the only industry to be shaped by the World Wide Web. Popular, traditional games like bingo are experiencing this online shift, too.

Online Bingo

We’re mentioning bingo because the transformation this activity has received closely mirrors that of traditional radio. Making this comparison helps to reveal the monumental influence the digital world has, no matter the industry. Like radio, bingo was and still is enjoyed as a physical activity. It’s an atmospheric game that’s garnered fans all around the world. But players can now play live bingo online in the same way you can with online radio. No matter where you are, you can tune in and start playing. It doesn’t stop there, though. Some online bingo sites also offer incentives that you otherwise wouldn’t receive playing traditional bingo, like free slot spins to encourage you to play more online slots by simply signing up. It’s safe to say that the online world has made its mark on online live bingo.

There are also similar opportunities offered with online radio, too. Plenty of shows host live mini-games for listeners to take part in to win a prize, and the advantage of having access to plenty of radio stations across the country despite your location makes this more accessible.
