A Lott of fun promised as Pixie turns on Christmas lights this weekend

Rugby Editorial 17th Nov, 2017   0

PIXIE Lott will headline one of the most popular events in the Rugby calendar this weekend when she pushes the button on the town’s Christmas lights.

The three-times chart topper will take to the stage to perform some of her hits before lighting up the festive illuminations in the town centre on Sunday (19 November).

The singer-songwriter, a four-time BRIT Award nominee, has reached number one with Mama Do, Boys and Girls and All About Tonight. She has sold over four million tracks, embarked on numerous worldwide tours, sold 1.6million albums worldwide and written songs for some of the world’s biggest stars including Selena Gomez.

Her Rugby appearance will cap off a busy year, in which she has released Baby – a collaboration with DJ Anton Powers – and latest single Won’t Forget You.

She spent the summer touring the world for exclusive shows and performances including in Ibiza, Creamfields and Manchester Pride, and she opened the recent We Are Manchester show, the benefit concert held for the re-opening of Manchester Arena.

She said: “I’m so excited to turn the Christmas lights on in Rugby. It’s my favourite time of year and I love seeing all of the Christmas sparkle everywhere.”

The event will also feature a laser show, Santa’s Grotto, a big wheel, fairground rides, stalls, displays, food and more.

Aftab Gaffar, Managing Director of Rugby First, said: “Pixie’s visit this Sunday has generated a huge amount of interest and there is a real buzz around the event. We are expecting good crowds as well as plenty of media interest which is fantastic in helping to raise the profile of the town centre as well as generate trade for town centre businesses.

“The Minions will also be making a special appearance on the Saturday – so there’s two great days of family entertainment in the town centre to look forward to.”

North Street car park will be closed on Saturday and Sunday (November 18 and 19) and used to host fairground rides.

The switch-on event starts at 12 noon on Sunday (19 November). Visit www.therugbytown.co.uk for more information.
