Ambulance passenger seriously injured after motorway crash with lorry

AN AMBULANCE and a lorry collided on the M1 near Lutterworth, leaving a passenger in the private transport ambulance with serious injuries.

The crash happened on the southbound carriageway between junctions 21 and 20 at around 11.40am on Tuesday January 28.

The passenger, a man in his 40s, was taken to University Hospital Coventry where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A man and two women who were also in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and were discharged from hospital.




The driver of the lorry was not injured.

Police are trying to establish the circumstances of the collision, and are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.


PC Andy Richardson said: “The incident happened at a busy time on the motorway, so there will have been a number of people in the area.

“Were you in the area of the collision? Did you witness the incident or did you see either of the vehicles being driven beforehand? Do you have any dashcam footage?

“If you do have any information and have not yet spoken with us, then please make contact.”
