IT HAS been another record breaking year for the Coventry and Warwickshire charity Christmas tree collection.
The 2024 collection has raised £48,840 for The Myton Hospices and Pass The Smile.
This year ‘s collection of real Christmas trees, in return for a charitable donation, took place over the weekend of January 12 to January 14.
And for this record-breaking fifth year, the scale of the organisation has evolved and expanded.
A total of 3,149 trees were amassed by 200 volunteers in 65 vans and taken to Russells Garden Centre where the mountain of trees was shredded. This year’s plan includes producing biomass pellets from the shredded trees, to create an ecologically sound fuel source.
The 2023 collection raised £45,750 for the two local charities and total donations across the five years of the campaign are now close to £150,000.
