Appeal launched to help feed local children who rely on free school meals

Rugby Editorial 5th Nov, 2020   0

FUNDS are being raised to help local children who rely on free school meals to keep food on the table during the holidays.

Katie Goodall of Meals To You and Newbold and Brownsover borough councillor Jim Ellis are raising £1,000 to donate to companies and organisations which are helping the effort to feed local children.

Coun Ellis said: “With job instability and Covid causing incomes to be unstable and reduced, holiday hunger is a real concern in Rugby.

“Children’s hunger should not be occurring in one of the richest nations on Earth, but it is.

“We are asking community members to donate a few pounds. Any money left over will be donated to the Trussell Trust to combat food poverty in the local community.”
