Armed robbers target security van in Rugby supermarket car park

ARMED robbers threatened a security driver in a Rugby supermarket car park before escaping with cash.

Police are hunting a gang of up to four men who struck at Lidl in Bilton Road around 3.50pm yesterday (Tuesday April 9).

They are believed to have fled in a black Audi A3 estate car with an unspecified amount of cash.

Det Sgt Mark Greaves from Rugby CID said: “We are working hard to locate those responsible for this violent robbery. As a result, the public may see an increased police presence in the area while enquiries continue.




“While I appreciate this may be have been an upsetting and scary situation which many people will have witnessed, we do believe it to be an isolated incident.

“I would ask that anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who may have dash cam footage or mobile phone footage to please come forward as soon as possible.


“Any information, no matter how small, could be significant to our investigation.”
