Arson attack leaves family feeling unsafe in own home

Rugby Editorial 5th May, 2020 Updated: 5th May, 2020   0

A FAMILY say they feel unsafe in their own Rugby home after an arson attack at the weekend.

Police are hunting the suspected arsonist after a car and a van were torched outside the Bilton address on Saturday night.

A couple and their two-year-old daughter were in the Jasmine Way property when the attack happened just after 10pm. No one was injured.

Writing on Facebook, the mother said: “We have CCTV evidence to show someone approached our house on a bike, threw petrol all over both vehicles, then cycled off.

“The first we knew of this was when the cars were both up in flames and we couldn’t get out of our house. If times aren’t already hard enough, someone does this.

“We now feel unsafe in our home, and have been told it was a targeted attack on us, but we have absolutely no reason whatsoever to know why someone would do this to us.”

Police have not yet released the CCTV images of the suspect, who was described as wearing dark clothing with a hood up and black tracksuit bottoms with a white stripe down the leg.

Anyone with information is urged to call 101 quoting incident 459 of May 2 2020. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
