Avon lady thrives in internet age

THE AVON lady has a future in the internet age.

And Rugby woman Carrie Twining is proving the point after being named one of Avon Cosmetics’ most successful UK salespeople.

The 32 year-old sales leader won a holiday in Portugal after her team of 170 representatives notched up sales of £233,000 last year.

Carrie says many customers prefer the face to face service internet shopping cannot provide.

She told The Observer: “I’ve found that customers prefer to buy Avon from a representative. They can ask questions, call me for advice and test products for free – things more difficult with online shopping.”

The former Bilton High School student grew up in Brownsover, and attended Warwickshire College before becoming a Junior Buyer for Claire’s Accessories.

The the mum-of-one began working for Avon two-and-half -years ago following the birth of her son Finlay.

She is not resting on her laurels and has now set her sight sets on doubling last year’s figure.

“I’m incredibly proud of our achievements and it’s amazing for them to be recognised so highly.

“We have worked hard as a team and I hope that we set an example of how you can run a successful, flexible business without any previous experience.”

Linda Clayton-Evans, Avon UK’s national sales director, was full of praise for Carrie’s efforts.

She said: “Carrie’s entrepreneurial ambition and motivation to drive her team to success has significantly contributed to the growth of her business.

“She is an inspiration, not only to her own team but to anyone considering starting up an independent Avon business as well.”
