Avon Valley appoints new head pupils

Rugby Editorial 13th Sep, 2022 Updated: 13th Sep, 2022   0

NEW HEAD pupils and senior prefects have been appointed for the 2022-23 academic year at Avon Valley School.

Year 11 students Josh Goodman and Courtney Williams have taken up their roles as head boy and head girl, which they will fulfil until they leave the school next July.

Josh and Courtney will now represent the school’s student community and serve as ambassadors at school events, acting as positive role models for the school’s younger students.

During the summer term, over 20 students applied for the positions and completed the application process, which involved attending an interview with the headteacher and their house’s achievement leader, and recording a short video to promote their application among students.

Students in all year groups had opportunity to vote for who they thought would be the best candidate for the position.

Headteacher Alison Davies had the difficult decision of appointing the students to their roles.

She said: “I am always impressed with the students who put themselves forward for these student leadership roles. This year was no exception. All the students gave a good account of themselves and deciding who to appoint was a difficult decision.

“I look forward to working with Josh, Courtney and the other senior students throughout this academic year.”
