Avon Valley staff 'delighted' with students’ GCSE results

STAFF at The Avon Valley School in Rugby are delighted with their students’ GCSE results.

A Grade 4 or above in English and Maths was achieved by 62 per cent of GCSE students at the school.

The highest performing student in the school, Liliya Herring, achieved eight Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and a Grade A in the Level 3 Free Standing Maths Qualification (FSMQ).

Fellow students Samantha Wordley, Kausar Blackwell, Leila Aghdasi-Sisan, Ellie Boswell, Niamh Issitt and Julia Kaczmarek all achieved eight or more GCSEs at Grade 7 or above.

Headteacher Alison Davies said: “It is fantastic to see our students achieving such an impressive set of results. This is a real testimony to all the hard work put in by students, staff and parents.

“The last two years have been a huge challenge for all of our students, and many of them have missed significant amounts of time through illness and isolation. To do well students needed to show real dedication to their studies, and I am pleased that our students rose to the challenge.

“I would like to congratulate the class of 2022 and wish them all the very best as they move on to the next stage of their education.”
