Beaver leader steps down after 20 years of inspiration

A HARDWORKING beaver leader is leaving his post as leader after 20 years of dedication.

Barry Clarke was surprised with a farewell party following his retirement from 22nd Rugby Scouts Group.

He was joined by beavers and cub scouts for a presentation by District Commissioner Richard Leader.

Richard said: “The time and commitment that Barry and all the other leaders give is to be applauded. The 20 years of dedication to be a beaver leader in the Hillmorton community is an inspiration to us all and we hope the group continues just as strongly with the new leader.”

A spokesperson added Barry would be missed by the children as he always had lots of energy and time to help them learn new skills, gain confidence and earn badges.

The former leader was presented with presents and all the parents, grandparents, leaders and children enjoyed cake and drinks before wishing Barry well in his retirement.
