A POPPY challenge has been keeping pupils, parents and staff at Bilton Church of England Junior School busy.
They have created hundreds of handmade poppies to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War.
The challenge was set at the beginning of October by headteacher Alexandra Norton who was inspired by the display of ceramic poppies at the Tower of London in 2014.
More than 100 poppies – knitted, crocheted, and made from paper and cardboard and even recycled bottles – were made and helped create a wall of remembrance at the school gate.
Mrs Norton said: “The children, parents and carers have been incredibly inventive about the poppies they have created.
“We have traditional red poppies, made from a variety of materials, as well as purple poppies to remember all of the animals who have lost their lives during war time.
“We also have cornflowers as a French symbol of remembrance to add to our every growing collection.”
