A POST Office in Rugby has been named the best in the Midlands after going above and beyond during the pandemic.

Bilton Post Office scooped the Best Customer Service Award after impressing judges with the care they showed the community.

The store was the only one in Rugby to remain open seven days a week and would collect parcels from business customers’ homes who were in isolation or shielding.

Staff would collect prescriptions for elderly customers and even opened a foodbank in branch, even delivering free food to those who were struggling locally.

Elderly customers received deliveries of stamps from dedicated staff, and the team even did shopping for those who were shielding.

And to ensure the message got out, 3,000 leaflets were delivered to households in the area.

Amjad Ali from Bilton Post Office said: “Me and the team have worked incredibly hard throughout Covid. We have ensured customers feel safe in the Post Office and have gone over and above to ensure customers had access to the services we provide.

“This included collecting parcels from customers home for those shielding and helping customers with prescription collections where needed. We also continued and expanded our newspaper deliveries to those shielding so they continued to feel connected to the world.

“I am very grateful to have been nominated and proud to have won.”
