Boat Show barges in to Crick today

CRICK Marina is pushing the boats out at the annual Crick Boat Show this weekend.

Over 25,000 visitors are expected to attend the show – the UK’s biggest inland waterways festival – which features 300 exhibitors from across the canal world, free boat trips, children’s activities, real ale, live music, and food and drink stalls.

Marina operator BWML will showcase more affordable boats at a Budget Boating feature, and a daily Budget Boating seminar will take place, offering visitors the chance to find out more about affordable ways to get on the water.

And the spirit of Marc Bolan will help revellers Get It On when T-Rex tribute band T-Rexstasy take to the stage tonight (Saturday May 27).

The Fleetwood Bac tribute show and Murphy’s Marbles will headline the Sunday night.

Show director Peter Johns said: “We are looking forward to welcoming people to our 2017 Crick Boat Show, which once again will create the nation’s biggest inland boating marketplace and a fantastic bank holiday family day out alongside the Grand Union Canal in Northamptonshire.

“Northamptonshire has over 58 miles of the Grand Union Canal running through the county, and now that Spring has sprung, people might be imagining what it would be like to travel along the county’s scenic inland waterways in their own boat.”

The show takes place from today (Saturday May 27) to Monday (May 29) from 10am-6pm each day except Monday (May 29), when it closes at 5pm. Evening entertainment runs from 7.30pm to 11.30pm.

Adult tickets cost £15. All children aged 16 and under go free. Senior Citizens and concessions are £13.50.
