Brave young woman fights off would-be car thieves

A BRAVE young woman was left shaken after she managed to fight off would-be car thieves near Lutterworth.

The woman was driving her white Mini Cooper in the area of Ashby Road, Ullesthorpe at around 7pm on Tuesday (March 22) when she saw a black Mini Cooper behind her flashing its lights.

Concerned there was a fault with her car, she pulled over and a young man approached her passenger door and began to open it.

She saw more men getting out of the black Mini, and managed to fight off the man at her passenger door and drive off.

The woman did not suffer any injuries.

Following initial enquiries, police believe the black Mini – which was found in the Lutterworth area on Thursday morning (March 24) – was stolen.

Sgt Ryan Coleman said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and we are continuing to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“The victim has understandably been left very shaken and we continue to maintain contact with her throughout the investigation.

“We are appealing to anyone who has any information in relation to this incident, and who has not yet spoken with us, to make contact with us.”
