Andy Morris 8th Sep, 2017   0

BURGLARS forced their way into a Lutterworth shop and used a gas canister to open a cash machine in the early hours of this morning (Friday September 8).

They stole cassettes containing cash from the machine at the Co-op in Linden Drive at around 3.40am.

The emptied cassettes were discovered by a member of the public in Church Lane in Gilmorton.

Significant damage was caused to the Co-op.

Witnesses reported seeing several men fleeing in a dark-coloured saloon type car which drove off towards Holly Drive.

A cordon is in place around the store as detectives conduct a forensic search and review CCTV footage.

Anyone with information, or who saw the vehicle in the area between 3-4am, is asked to call Leicestershire Police on 101 quoting incident 53 of September 8.
