Business networking group welcoming new members following relaunch

A BUSINESS networking group based in Rugby has re-launched to welcome new members after a difficult few years.

Rugby Independent Business Network (RIBN), an independent networking group run by local businesses, was established in 2009 and was thriving until the pandemic hit.

Chairperson and local Mortgage Broker Steve Valentine said: “For many years our meetings were incredibly busy, with business people from all across Rugby attending. But as Covid hit, many of our members changed roles and the group shrank in size.

“When we finally reopened the group face-to-face earlier this year, we decided it was time for a fresh start.

“The beauty of being independent is that we can make up our own rules. So some newer members took on committee roles, they made some decisions on how best to move the group forward, and we officially relaunched on November 1.”

He said RIBN was looking for people across Rugby who are interested in networking with other local businesses.

He added: “We don’t charge membership fees, we just ask for a small monthly payment that helps to cover the cost of the meetings.

“This isn’t about making a profit, it’s about bringing local businesses together, and our members frequently do a lot of business together. The format seems to really work.”

RIBN meets every other Tuesday morning at the Draycote Hotel, starting at 7am with a full buffet breakfast. The meetings finish at around 8.50am.
