Businesses can get advice on reopening at free council webinar

BUSINESSES in Rugby are invited to a free online seminar where they can get advice on reopening at the end of lockdown.

Following the success of a similar ‘webinar’ held before Christmas, Rugby Borough Council (RBC) will host the seminar to give business an update on the government’s roadmap to reopening, and practical pointers on how they can prepare to reopen.

There will be a particular focus on retail, hospitality and close contact services.

Businesses will also hear about grants and loans available for those that need extra support.

Panellists at the event will include representatives from RBC’s commercial regulation, licensing, and community safety teams, Warwickshire Police, Rugby First and Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub, with others to be confirmed.

The council’s growth and investment spokeswoman Coun Jill Simpson-Vince said: “With the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccines and case rates now significantly lower, we can look forward to our borough’s businesses being able to reopen and start trading again.

“Nevertheless, we’re not going to be able to go back to ‘normal’ just yet. This webinar will help businesses to know what they can expect from the government’s roadmap and how they can best prepare to reopen safely and successfully.

“And, with some businesses not able to reopen fully until later in the spring, there will be important information about accessing cash grants and business loans.

“The feedback from the last meeting was very positive, and I hope that this webinar will prove equally useful.”

The webinar will be held at 2pm on Wednesday March 24. Visit www.rugby.gov.uk/businesswebinar to sign up.
