Car park revamp is new lease of life for Rugby youth group

VOLUNTEERS at a club for young people are ‘thrilled’ with their new car park, which was resurfaced free of charge and will be used to boost their coffers.

The Bradby Club’s 60-year-old HQ in East Union Street was given the courtesy makeover by construction company Costain Galliford Try – a dream that the club said would have otherwise been out of reach.

Bradby Club communications manager Alison Ross said spaces would be rented out to raise money for the club and its members.

She said: After years of an uneven and deteriorating car park, this fantastic new surface brings a totally smart new look to the building and sets the tone for the Club’s centenary celebrations in 2019.

“For a company to show such generous community spirit is wonderful. Costain Galliford Try has enabled a struggling youth club to improve its profile and made it even more proud of its tradition of helping young people to achieve their potential.”

Eamonn Slevin of Costain Galliford Try said: “The Bradby Club does so much for the community, we wanted to give something back.

“The resurfacing of the car park allows the Club to be more accessible and more user-friendly. Graham Pickett, our Works Superintendent, is grateful to the residents for not parking near our works which allowed us to complete the job without any problems.”

Any individual or business interested in renting a parking space at the Club for £100 per quarter (£400 pa) can contact Matt Conibere at the Club on 01788 544344.

Alison added: “Not only does it represent great value car parking, you will also be helping to sustain the club.”

The voluntary club is the only full-time youth facility in the area, employing three youth workers and open four nights a week.
