A CARE home in Rugby has been shortlisted for a national award for the second time.
Anya Court Care Home has been nominated for a Dementia Care Award in the Best Dementia Garden category – previously won by the Dunchurch Road care home in 2016.
The home’s landscaped gardens include a fairy tale forest area, greenhouse, outdoor boules court, chicken coop, and a modern water feature with a fish pond as its centrepiece.
Lifestyles Team Leader Sue Mitchell said: “We are very happy to be shortlisted for this award.
“Our garden is a big part of our residents’ daily lives. A lot of work has gone into making our garden one for our residents to love and enjoy and to be recognised for all our efforts is just the icing on the cake.”
The awards, first established in 2009 by The Journal of Dementia Care, acknowledge care providers and individuals who have made a difference to the quality of life of people living with dementia.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Doncaster Racecourse this evening (November 7).
