Century-old youth club to hold two vital fund-raising events

Rugby Editorial 27th Jan, 2022   0

A CENTURY-OLD youth club whose vital community work ‘saves lives’ is holding two much-needed fund-raising events in the coming weeks.

The Bradby Club, which has had to abandon many of its usual money-spinning events during the pandemic, is hosting a Post Christmas Jumble Sale at its East Union Street headquarters on Saturday (January 29) from 10am.

Bargains on books, toys, shoes, clothes and more will be on offer. Admission costs 20p.

And the Club’s Quiz Night will return on Friday February 18 after a two-year absence.

Hosted by quizmaster David Ray, the event at Southfields in Horton Crescent will include a hot supper, bar and raffle. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets are available from the club at £16 for teams are of six.

The Bradby Club has been working with young people in Rugby for 102 years. Its open-access evenings provide a safe centre for young people aged 8-25, with sport, cookery, residential courses and more. Professional youth workers offer informal education in safe relationships and substance misuse in schools and other clubs.

The club has continued to offer support, guidance and activities to young people during the pandemic, either online or in socially-distanced groups, and Youth Workers have kept in touch with young people who are hardest to reach and most vulnerable.

Bradby won a Queens’ Award in 2004 and a Pride of Rugby Award in 2018.
