Charity seeks new recruits to help disabled people live independently

Rugby Editorial 19th Mar, 2018   0

A RUGBY charity will open its doors to potential new recruits this weekend.

New Directions is looking for Support Workers who can help people with learning and physical disabilities to live independent lives.

The charity is holding a Recruitment Open Day on Saturday (March 24) where prospective employees can take a tour of accommodation services and find out more about the role.

The event will be an opportunity to meet residents, managers and support staff and find out about staff benefits, training, career opportunities, shift work, casual work or how to apply for current vacancies.

Human Resources Manager Lorna Brindley said no two days were the same at New Directions.

She said: “Being a Support Worker is a rewarding job which includes providing personal, physical and emotional support with dedication and flexibility.

“Our Recruitment Day is a great chance to find out more about what it means to be a Support Worker and see the remarkable pioneering services we provide.

“We can offer positive career prospects, full training, a voluntary healthcare cashplan, an employee assistance programme and childcare vouchers.”

New Directions provides support services including home care, supported living, respite, day activities, residential services, dementia and transitional support to adults with learning and physical disabilities aged 16 and over, their families and carers.

The open day takes place at the charity’s head office at 27 Bilton Road from 10am-2pm. Call 01788 573318, email [email protected] or visit www.newdirectionsrugby.org.uk for more information.
