Christmas wishes could come true at Rugby care home

CARE home residents are hoping their Christmas wish comes true this year after entering a national competition.

Over 30 residents at Anya Court Care Home in Rugby have entered the care provider’s company-wide event Lucky Star, a Christmas wish competition that runs from December 1-January 6 and encourages residents to make a wish however big or small and then display it on a Christmas tree.

In the New Year, Hallmark Care Homes will review the wishes and will make at least one wish come true for a resident from each of the company’s 16 UK care homes.

The granted wishes, will include at least one big wish per home as well as lots of smaller wishes.

Residents wishes currently on the Lucky Star tree at Anya Court range from a pair of slippers to a trip to Australia.

Anya Court’s customer relationship manager Karen Handley said: “We are very excited to make some of these wishes come true for our residents. Since we have encouraged our residents to think of a wish, we have found out some great things about them, which we would never have known.

“Whatever wishes we cannot grant, we will take a note of and look at making the wish come true either on the residents’ birthday, or Pay It Forward Day in April, which encourages individuals to take part in a random act of kindness.”
