Church hopes to 'Light Up Rugby' at Good Friday event

AN UPLIFTING Easter celebration is taking place in Rugby on Good Friday (March 29).

The Light Up Rugby event aims to ‘light up the hearts of those going through tough times’.

Hosted by members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Harvest Fellowship, the event will feature vibrant gospel music, gospel singers and dance, with food and drink also provided.

Invited dignitaries, local churches, pastors and other priests will be joined by representatives of the local police force and fire brigade, who will be thanked for their service.

RCCG Senior Pastor Morola Hayden said: “Our particular focus this year is evangelistic. Times are hard for people. Mental health issues and domestic abuse are on the increase, and migrant communities continue to increase in number as the world experiences more strife.

“We are inviting the lonely, the homeless, and those suffering due to the cost of living. We intend to run sessions of free prayer ministry and counselling for everyone attending.

“We’d like to reach out and ask if people have any prayer requests for themselves or others. We will then pray for them at Light Up Rugby and at the church.”

The event takes place at the Benn Hall in Newbold Road from 5pm on Good Friday (March 29).
