Clubs to host jumble sale and sponsored bike ride this weekend

Rugby Editorial 23rd Sep, 2022   0

TWO FUND-raising events will take place in Rugby tomorrow (Saturday September 24).

THE BRADBY Club will host its first Jumble Sale in six months at its East Union Street headquarters.

A spokeswoman for the club, which has had to abandon many of its usual money-spinning events during the pandemic, said: “We have new stock with excellent bargains, and this is a splendid way to support your local youth club which has been working hard throughout all the Covid restrictions.”

The sale takes place at 10.00am, and admission costs 20p.

MEMBERS of the Rotary Club of Rugby will say ‘on your bike’ to prostate cancer by taking part in a sponsored static bike ride.

Volunteers will be riding exercise bikes between 10am and 2pm outside Asda, in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

A club spokeswoman said: “Please support our volunteer static bike riders.

“One man dies every 45 minutes in the UK from the disease. It’s likely to affect one in eight men during their lifetime. Guys – not thinking about it doesn’t mean it won’t happen!”

The club will be taking donations on the day. Alternatively, visit www.justgiving.com/RC-of-Rugby-Rotary-Ride-2022 to donate.
