AN EARLY Christmas present has been given to good causes around Rugby.
The Co-op has received a £45,000 funding boost from its members which has been shared among 15 organisations in the Rugby area, including Long Buckby Preschool and Rugby Gymnastics Club.
This is the latest round of pay outs from the Co-op’s local community fund, which has now invested £155,000 in causes in Rugby since it launched in September 2016.
The scheme is funded by one per cent of spending on selected Co-op-branded products and services.
Rebecca Birkbeck, Director of Community and Shared Value at the Co-op, said: “We’re delighted to be able to support such a wide range of local groups as they help to improve wellbeing in Rugby.
“By choosing their local cause online, our members are telling us what really matters in their communities, and we have used this information to help us identify new groups to support throughout next year.
“Feedback has shown us that we should be focused on protecting and improving community spaces, helping people reach their full potential by developing their skills, and promoting health and wellbeing.”
