Cocaine dealer from Rugby jailed for 32 months

A COCAINE dealer from Rugby has been jailed for more than two and a half years.

At Warwick Crown Court, Craig Gallagher, 45, of Dyson Close, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine, and possession of Class A and Class C drugs with intent to supply. He was sentenced to 32 months in prison.

Last year, officers from Rugby Proactive CID investigated information that suggested Gallagher was dealing drugs.

In May, officers raided his home and found over 80g of cocaine, more than £3,500 in cash, mobile phones, and a quantity of Xanax tablets.

Following his conviction, a confiscation investigation has started to determine Gallagher’s benefit from criminal conduct and the value of a potential confiscation order.

Det Cons Becky Naughton said: “Although this is Gallagher’s first offence, the severity of the sentence just goes to show how seriously drugs offences are taken by us and by the courts.

“The team truly hope he takes the time in prison to reflect on some of the poor life choices he’s made and he’s able to turn his life around when he gets out.

“We’re all too aware the misery drugs can cause – not just to those who take them but to those in the local community as well.

“We will proactively target people we believe to be involved in drugs and use the powers we have to make sure their activity is disrupted.

“Proactive CID are delighted with the outcome and hope it serves as a deterrent to Gallagher and others who try to profit from drugs.

“I also hope it helps to reassure the public we will thoroughly investigate all drugs activity so we can bring offenders to justice and continue to protect our communities from harm.”
