Cocaine dealer jailed after police spot suspicious activity in Rugby town centre

A COCAINE dealer from Long Lawford has been jailed for almost two and a half years after admitting possession of the drug with intent to supply.

Officers from Rugby Proactive CID were on patrol at around 12.30pm on November 24 when they were alerted to a known drug user in Rugby town centre.

They followed him and witnessed a suspected drugs deal taking place between him and another man.

A quantity of what was thought to be cocaine was seized along with some cash and a mobile phone, before Yusupha Jallow was arrested.

The officers then carried out a search of his house where they found more suspected cocaine and cash.

Jallow, of Redhill Road in Long Lawford, was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to supply, and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to both offences and was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court on Monday (January 30) to 28 months in prison.

He was also made to pay a victim surcharge of £228 and had more than £500 in cash forfeited.

Det Cons Matt Rapkins said: “The misery drugs can cause is well known – not just to those who take them, but to those in the local community as well.

“We will proactively target people we believe to be involved in drugs and use the powers we have to make sure their activity is disrupted.

“I hope Jallow’s sentence acts as a deterrent to others and goes some way to reassuring the public we will thoroughly investigate all drugs activity so we can bring offenders to justice and continue to protect our communities from harm.”
