COMMUNITY-spirited kids from a Brownsover nursery decided to tidy up their neighbourhood.
Children from Coton Park Day Nursery were dismayed when they noticed how much litter they saw during a walk at their local park – so decided to do something about it.
Their teachers contacted Newbold and Brownsover Borough Councillor Jim Ellis, who was more than happy to help.
He and the Brownsover Community Association dipped into community funds to provide the children with some litter pickers for educational use.
Coton Park Day Nursery staff member Sammy said: “The children have had a wonderful time exploring their local community and making a difference.
“Jim even made time to come and visit the children on his day off to see how they were getting on with the ‘grabbers’.”
Coun Ellis said: “It was a pleasure to access community funds and help the nursery kids, especially as it promotes environmental issues as a fun learning experience.
“The nursery staff tell me that the kids absolutely love their pickers. So it was a pleasure to help source some resources for them.
“It was especially lovely to hear from the children how much they love being out and about, learning to look after their local environment.”
