GENEROUS donors have helped staff at construction sites to collect over 750 Easter eggs for local good causes.

Staff at construction firm Galliford Try in Wolvey and their highways site in Rugby have collected 760 Easter eggs, smashing last year’s total of 169.

They will be shared between charities including Women’s Aid in Rugby and Nuneaton Foodbank.

Donations came from suppliers including Lapwing, James King Plant, GAP, Marwood Group, Buildbase Civils and Lintels, Keyline, Tarmac, B-Line Plant, Burdens, Mason Street Furniture, North Midlands Construction, S&J Contractors, Wrekin and Jewsons.

Chesca Simons of Galliford Try’s community engagement team at Wolvey said: “This is way beyond our expectations. We had so many eggs we initially didn’t know where to take them.

“As a result of our collection the Nuneaton Foodbank now haven’t got to take money out of their own funds to pay for Easter treats for local disadvantaged children.

“We’d like to thank all our employees and suppliers for their generosity.”
