Coronation cuppa brings adult education community together

A CUPPA for the Coronation proved a big draw at the Percival Guildhouse as students and supporters enjoyed a Coronation Tea Party on Monday (May 8).

In the spirit of The Big Help Out, volunteers and staff served up tea, coffee and cake to around 100 people.

The independent adult education centre in St Matthew’s Street was abuzz with right royal chatter, as guests swapped stories of Coronation Day and Sunday neighbourhood parties.

Centre Manager Sarah Gall said: “We saw at our Platinum Jubilee Party last year how much people valued the opportunity to get together for a chat, so we thought we’d do it again for the Coronation. And, again, it was a triumph!”

Money raised from a raffle, tombola and a ‘pin the crown on the King’ challenge helped to raise precious funds for the charity-run, self-financing centre, which will celebrate its centenary in 2025.
