SHOPPERS can enjoy free parking across Rugby in the run-up to Christmas.

Rugby Borough Council has arranged the free parking from noon onwards on Sunday November 8 until January 3 in ten town centre car parks.

Free spaces will be available at the following car parks: John Barford, North Street, Little Church Street, Newbold Road, Railway Terrace, Evreux Way, Old Market Square, Gas Street, Chestnut Fields and Westway.

Coun Michael Stokes, leader of Rugby Borough Council, hopes the free parking can help shoppers and businesses alike.

He said: “A thriving town centre has a major role to play in Rugby’s growing economy and I want to support businesses to make the town centre a better place to live, work and visit.

“We have welcomed thousands of visitors during the Rugby World Cup and the celebrations have had a real positive impact on the town centre and its businesses.

“I believe free parking in the council’s town centre car parks can encourage residents to shop local this Christmas and deliver a seasonal boost to our town centre businesses.”
