Council grants on offer to community and voluntary groups in Rugby

Rugby Editorial 9th Jan, 2020   0

COMMUNITY and voluntary organisations can now apply for a grant from Rugby Borough Council (RBC).

The council’s community project grants and awards from its rural development fund aim to support community, voluntary and charitable organisations to deliver one-off projects which benefit the borough’s communities.

Community project grants of up to £2,000 can help organisations deliver and develop projects, with recent examples including community cafes, youth clubs and projects which promote sports, arts and culture.

The rural development fund offers parish councils, community and voluntary organisations grants of up to £10,000 for projects or purchases which support rural communities.

Recent projects to benefit from the fund include community hall refurbishments, improvements to playing fields and playgrounds, and community transport schemes.

RBC’s communities and homes spokeswoman Coun Emma Crane said: “Community and voluntary organisations make an important contribution to the borough, and the council’s grants aim to support projects which can deliver real benefits to our communities.

“I’d urge organisations to find out more about the funding criteria and apply for a grant before the deadline.”

Grant applications must be made online and submitted before midnight on Sunday February 23. Visit www.rugby.gov.uk/grants for more information, including guidelines and application forms.

Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action (WCAVA) will host a free workshop at the Town Hall on Wednesday (January 22) to help guide organisations through the grant application process.

The workshop runs from 10am to 12noon. To book a place, visit www.rugby.gov.uk/grants or call WCAVA on (01788) 574258.

Organisations can also get advice on grant applications by emailing [email protected] or calling WCAVA.
