THE LIVE music scene in Rugby could be turned up to 11 by councillors hoping to enhance Rugby’s cultural offer.
A Rugby Borough Council task group has launched a survey of budding and current musicians to see how the council could best support the scene.
The group is looking for feedback on tuition, practice rooms, recording facilities, live performance venues and the general scene.
The ‘task and finish’ group was created to research the topic and make future recommendations – and its chair is hoping for a strong response.
Coun Rob Barnett said: “We know that live music venues across the country are struggling, and as a musician I am eager to see what could be done to support venues and the wider music scene in Rugby.
“Whether it’s access to tuition, practice rooms and recording studios, or suitable places to perform, we want to hear what musicians value and what they feel could be improved.”
