County's support for domestic abuse and sexual violence victims boosted by new funding

FURTHER funding will be given to local domestic abuse and sexual violence services.

In May the Ministry of Justice gave around £220,000 to help six services continue to deliver support across Warwickshire throughout the pandemic.

And now an additional amount of nearly £58,000 has now been made available.

The organisations receiving the funding are Safeline, RoSA, Refuge, Family Intervention Counselling Service, Insight Services and Domestic Abuse Counselling Service and Parenting Project.

Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe says the funding helps services cope with extra demand due to coronavirus and lockdown measures along with helping address short-term financial loss due to lack of fund-raising.

He added: “All six of these organisations have continued to deliver support to some of the most vulnerable members of our community, so I am pleased that we have received additional funding to help continue to support them across the months ahead.

“The work they do to help victims of sexual violence and domestic abuse is vital and I want to emphasise that they remain fully open and available to provide help to those who need it, regardless of the situation with covid 19. This extra funding boost will only help to further safeguard their continuing support.”
