AN INTREPID couple from Rugby are getting on their bikes to help raise money for St Cross Hospital.

Steve and Carol Hemp will be saddling up to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats in memory of Carol’s mum Sadie Durman, who died earlier this year.

The grueling 1,200-mile route will take the couple from the Cornish coast to the most northern point of mainland Scotland.

They hope to raise £1,000 for charity the Friends of St Cross, who support the St Cross Hospital where Sadie was cared for.

Willy Goldschmidt, chairman of the Friends of St Cross, said: “We are amazed by the challenges that our supporters take on and are most grateful to them and all their supporters.

“We hope Carol and Steve enjoy their adventure, and we look forward to posting photos of their trip on our Facebook page.”

The couple will set-off from their home in Rugby on Friday (September 1) and hope to complete their trip by the end of the month.
