Crescent School gets dressed up for 70th anniversary celebrations

Rugby Editorial 22nd Sep, 2018   0

THE PAST came to life at a primary school as it began its 70th anniversary celebrations.

Pupils and staff at the Crescent School got dressed up in fashions from across the decades and spent the day exploring the history of the past 70 years.

The children studied topics such as playground games, toys, music and comics – developing their knowledge of the past and how it differs from the present.

The Crescent School was formally founded in 1948 to educate the children of Rugby School masters. It is named after its original town centre location on the corner of Horton Crescent.

As well as turning 70 this year, the school is marking 30 years since it moved to Bawnmore Road in Bilton – and to celebrate, the school is holding a series of events to help share its rich history and reconnect with past pupils.

An Open House event takes place next Saturday (September 29) from 2-4pm, with performances from Bilton Brass Band and the school choir. Classrooms will display memorabilia from the past. Past pupils, staff and the local community are all welcome.

Other events are planned for later in the year including a pub meet and a carol service. Email [email protected] or visit www.crescentschool.co.uk/news for more information.

All Old Crescentians are encouraged to get back in touch with the school and join in the celebrations. Visit www.facebook.com/groups/oldcrescentians to get involved.
