Dangerous driver banned after leading police on chase through Rugby

A DANGEROUS driver who led police on a chase around Rugby has been banned from getting behind the wheel.

At Warwick Crown Court, Colby Mann, 26, of Craven Road, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and driving without a licence.

He was disqualified from driving for 36 months and required to take an extended test before he can drive again. He was also ordered to pay a £187 victim surcharge and his driving record endorsed.

Mann was arrested at 10pm on October 8 last year after he failed to stop when directed by police on Clifton Road.

The officers followed him on to Eastlands Road, then back to Clifton Road and onto Houlton Way.

He crashed his car into curbs in Houlton Way, ran from the car and was arrested shortly afterwards.

Inspector Simon Paull said Mann drove dangerously with no consideration for other road users in a built-up area.

He added: “The court has quite rightly imposed a significant sentence including a lengthy ban which means he will not be using the roads for some time.

“We hope this gives him plenty of time to consider the consequences of his actions – because for roads to be safer, we need all drivers to drive carefully and considerately within the law and at an appropriate speed for the conditions.”
