THE DEADLINE to register to vote in the upcoming local elections is approaching.
Residents who want to have their say in May’s elections for Rugby Borough Council and The Police and Crime Commissioner – and who are not already registered to vote at their current address – must apply by midnight on Tuesday April 21, or 5pm on Wednesday April 22 for postal votes.
The council’s Electoral Registration Officer Adam Norburn said: “These elections are an opportunity to make your voice heard and have a say on who represents you on issues that directly affect day-to-day life here in Rugby.
“If you’re not registered by April 21, you won’t be able to vote. And if you want to vote by post you must apply in time.”
Residents who were registered to vote in the last election and whose details have not changed – and who do not want to change the way they vote – do not need to take any action.
The elections take place on Thursday May 7.
