Donation allows school to complete outdoor classroom

Rugby Editorial 31st Dec, 2022   0

A GRATEFUL primary school can finish work on its outdoor classroom – complete with a mini amphitheatre – thanks to a donation from a housebuilder.

Rokeby Primary School will also be able to transform part of its playground into a sensory nature garden featuring raised flowerbeds with scented plants and a water feature, after it received £500 from developer Barratt Homes.

The sensory garden will be a space that helps stimulate outdoor learning as well as the senses.

Teacher Tess Doughty said: “We are so grateful for the money. Having the outdoor earning space and sensory garden will have such a positive impact on our children. I can’t wait to get started.”

Simon Francis, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “We are so pleased to be able to support Rokeby Primary School create a sensory nature garden for their pupils.

“It is important to us as to recognise and support the communities near our developments.”

Barratt Homes is building 216 homes at the nearby Ashlawn Gardens, off Ashlawn Road.
