Donation helps Ukrainians to settle in Rugby

Rugby Editorial 26th Mar, 2024   0

UKRAINIANS relocating to Rugby have received a boost to help them settle in the area.

The local branch of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain has received a £500 windfall to help the families adjust to their new surroundings, support them with English lessons, finances and finding work, and provide a safe space for them to connect.

Weekly meetings are held with different activities including a yoga group and a choir.

Housebuilder Redrow Midlands donated the money as part of its Community Fund initiative.

Anna Nepip-Frankis from the Association said: “We will be using the funds to help cover rent of the premises we use for our weekly meetings, which provide an opportunity for support, community and fun for those who have fled their home country.”

Elaine Cartwright from Redrow Midlands added: “We are thrilled to be supporting the Association, a thoroughly deserving local charity, and continuing to help build thriving communities through our Community Fund initiative.

“We are incredibly proud to be supporting an organisation which helps people adjust to their new area. A sense of community goes a long way to making somewhere feel like home.”
