A DRUG dealer who was caught in the act by police has been jailed.

At Coventry Crown Court on Wednesday (November 20), Matthew Keating, of Lawford Road, pleaded guilty to seven counts of possession of Class A, B and C drugs with intent to supply.

He was jailed for three years and four months.

On August 17 last year, the 43-year-old was arrested by plain clothes officers after they spotted him selling drugs.

When searched, he was found to have what police described as a ‘significant quantity’ of drugs – and yet more were seized after his house was raided.

He was charged following an investigation by Rugby Proactive CID.

Detective Constable Gary Hammond said: “As a result of the quick response and good detective work, Keating is off the streets and behind bars.

“The misery drugs can cause is well known not just to those who take them but to those in the local community as well.

“We will proactively target people we believe to be involved in drugs and use the powers we have to make sure their activity is disrupted.

“I hope Keating’s sentence acts as a deterrent to others and goes some way to reassuring the public we will thoroughly investigate all drugs activity so we can bring offenders to justice and protect our communities from harm.”
