FATHER Christmas helped a fund-raising group from Dunchurch give out some very special presents.
He gave out funds to local groups, raised by Dunchurch Festival Group throughout the year.
The group raised a record £12,000 for local good causes such as the Scouts, Brownies, Rainbows, Guides, Care Through the Millennium, the WI, Dunchurch Band, and the village’s churches, schools and allotments.
The group raised the money through a Quiz Night, a 50s rock and roll night with The Retrobates, the Village Fete, a Sing-A-Long Sound of Music night, a Halloween Ghost Walk and a kids’ disco.
Group chair Rob Collings said: “I’d like to thank all the people, supporters, shops and groups of the village for their support throughout the year and all the volunteers that turned up helping to put the events on.”
Next year, the group will host another Quiz Night in March, a live band night in May, the Fete in June, a play in September and a Sing-A-Long Wizard of Oz night in November. Visit www.dunchurchevents.org for more information.
