Dunchurch statue celebrates force day of Christmas

Rugby Editorial 14th Dec, 2015 Updated: 27th Oct, 2016   0

A STORMTROOPER has appeared in Dunchurch village centre as the latest alter-ego of the Lord John Scott statue.

The statue, which is dressed up each Christmas by anonymous villagers, this year takes the form of a Star Wars soldier to mark the release of the eagerly-awaited seventh film in the sci-fi franchise, The Force Awakens, which opens in the UK on Thursday (December 17).

The tradition has been carried on for over 30 years, and has seen the statue dressed up as an Olympian, The Queen and Spider-Man in recent years.
