ECO-minded groups came together in Rugby to celebrate ongoing environmental work across the borough.
Nature in Focus Community Networking, hosted by Rugby Borough Council and Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, celebrated the community’s dedication to environmental preservation and laid the foundations for future initiatives.
Some 55 representatives of ten community groups and organisations showcased their initiatives, raising awareness about their ongoing efforts and achievements.
A dedicated networking hour gave participants a chance to discuss themes identified in feedback from last year, including collaboration, strategies for engaging with young people, outreach opportunities and upcoming events.
Attendees also talked about creating a community network to keep sharing ideas and supporting each other’s work.
Coun Alison Livesey, Rugby Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Operations and Traded Services and Chair of the Climate Emergency Working Group, said: “It has been fantastic to facilitate an event for individuals and groups who are dedicated to environmental preservation and sustainability.
“We hope that the connections made here will help generate innovative projects and partnerships in the future.”
Her Liberal Democrat counterpart Coun Sam Edwards, Deputy Chair of the Climate Emergency Working Group, added: “Giving local groups the opportunity to meet and network is incredibly important.
“The session has demonstrated a strong interest in people coming together, sharing common interests and goals.”
The event was organised in response to feedback from attendees of the previous Nature in Focus event last July.
