ELDERLY patients in local hospitals will have more to do thanks to a donation from a Rugby care home.

Anya Court Care Home in Rugby has raised £1,000 for the elderly care wards charity at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW).

The residential, nursing and dementia home raised the money throughout the pandemic by hosting Zoom quiz nights and a Christmas fair.

The funds will be used to provide activities to the elderly during their stay at hospital.

UHCW Activity Coordinator Rachel Wyles said: “On behalf of the elderly care wards at UHCW I would like to say a massive thank you to Anya Court for their generous donation, it is greatly appreciated as it benefits the patients and goes a long way to support the care in the elderly care wards.”

Maddie Difford, Corporate Fundraiser of the charity, said: “We are delighted to have the continued support of Anya Court which has fundraised throughout the pandemic for our elderly care wards. The donation makes a real difference to our staff, patients and their families after a difficult year.”

The came home’s Customer Relationship Manager Karen Handley said: “This charity is one we are delighted to be involved with as we know from the residents here how beneficial activities are to their wellbeing, and even more so when they have to spend time in hospital.

“It was lovely to be able to return to see the team at UHCW in person again, present them with a cheque and pass on some goodies to the employees on the wards as a thank you for all their hard work during the pandemic.”
