TACKLING hate crime is the theme of a series of events being held across Warwickshire.
Warwickshire anti-discrimination charity The Equality and Inclusion Partnership (EQuIP) is holding the ‘We Stand Together’ events in partnership with Warwickshire Police and The Crown Prosecution Service.
The aim is to tell residents how to report hate crimes they have experienced or witnessed, and to address why people may not feel comfortable reporting such crimes.
Speakers will discuss how to report hate crime, the processes followed by Warwickshire Police, and the role of The Crown Prosecution Service.
They will also hear residents’ concerns about hate in their areas.
Junaid Hussain, Chief Executive of EQuIP, said: ‘Hate crime is a dreadful crime which needs tackling at every opportunity, but people rarely report it for a variety of reasons.
“These sessions are aimed at exploring how hate crime is tackled by the Police and CPS, and what more needs to be done to work together. We urge community members to have their say at one of the events.”
The events take place on April 25 at the Benn Hall in Rugby, May 10 at Edward Street Community Centre in Nuneaton, and May 17 at The Riverside Glasshouse in Leamington – all from 5.30-8pm.
