SANTA is coming to more of the town as he announced some new routes for his sleigh tour this year.
Father Christmas will add Boughton Vale, Brownsover, Cawston, Coton Park and Long Lawford to his usual itinerary of streets and shopping centres next month.
He will be joined by his elves, Rudolph the Reindeer, and helpers from Rugby Rokeby Lions Club (RRLC) – who raised over £12,000 for local charities on last year’s tour.
RRLC president John Nelson said: “I was delighted to get a call from Mr Claus confirming he was coming to Rugby and asking us to help out again.
“Every year he helps us raise thousands of pounds for local charities and good causes, and the people of Rugby have a tradition of giving during the tour.
“Last year saw us break the Christmas sleigh fundraising record and we are aiming to try and top that this time around, with some new routes for Santa and some extra appearances during the month at our shopping centres. This includes at the expanding Elliott’s Field which, after last year’s success, is now a permanent part of Santa’s itinerary.”
This year’s collection will also be a chance to give old ’round pounds’ to a worthwhile cause. Although no longer legal tender, RRLC can still bank them in the club’s charity account.
The Christmas Sleigh tour starts on Friday December 1 and continues until Christmas Eve (Sunday December 24). See the itinerary below.
